Cramer on Bernanke:
Why don't we just hammer it every time he opens his mouth and decide, even before what he says, that he is going to kill stocks, so we sell, and then when he says it, we sell again, and then when it is repeated in the news, we sell still once more?
Oh come on, you know that is what is happening. We are getting killed and rekilled on the same stuff, exacerbated by the amazing volatility that is back with a vengeance.
I am beginning to believe that the sheer act of Bernanke speaking has become nuclear, that the guy is as toxic as they come ... And the defensives are giving up the ghost today because, alas, they are stocks in the S&P 500, and this is an S&P sell program.
I know, this sounds very glib. But I have seen the inability to process that we have discounted the same statements before. It comes after we have had a big run-up, which we had at the end of the week. And it always is devastating, even when it shouldn't be.
It shouldn't be.
